A MAN'S SKIN ROUTINE

by Rodrigo Diaz

Does the order really matter when using skincare products? The simple answer is yes.

Absorption plays a key role in which order the products are best used on the skin. Products that contain oil or composed of heavier creams are meant to be used after lighter and faster absorbing serums. This way, each product can be used to its full potential and benefits. A good analogy would be drinking on an empty stomach; alcohol will hit stronger and faster than if eating while drinking, and even slower when having a drink after a meal.

Below, we'll look at the correct order for GOA's products.

The Correct Order

1. Purifying Face Cleanser

Used daily, during or after the shower to deep clean pores. This gets rid of oil build-up from drinking, stress, fatigue, dirt, and any environmental pollutant. It's the first step in clearing the way for other products.

2. Recovery Face Scrub

Best used 2 to 3 times weekly. The skin regenerates while the top layer dies off. This dying off of skin cells can cause oil build-up or cause the skin to become prone to bacteria unless a scrub is used at least 2-3 times a week.

3. Anti-Fatigue Face Mask

Used once or twice a week (not on scrub day). Masks are meant to cleanse out blackheads, help new skin proliferation, deep detox, and relax both the skin and mind. Very good home spa qualities are a must including aromatherapy and overall feel-good experience. An application under the eyes to reduce dark circles and bags can be made daily.

4. Collagen+ Control Face Serum

Applied daily. A thin, fast-absorbing product meant to replenish depleted nutrients caused by stress from long nights or early mornings.

5. Undereye Boost Anti-Fatigue Serum

Daily use. Slightly thicker than a serum and meant to relieve tired eyes.

6. Oil-Free Protein Moisturizer

Daily use. One to two pump use. Used for all skin type but made for sensitive skin. Best used after the gym/shower.

7. Recovery Facial Serum

Nightly Use. A CBD power serum to optimize homeostasis in the skin. Can be used before or after the oil-free protein moisturizer but before any cream. Apply one dose before heading to bed for the first 15 days and two doses thereafter.

8. Regenerative Face Cream

Applied daily. Creams hold a higher concentration of larger sized molecules and are slower to absorb, but are excellent products to protect the skin. They usually include antioxidants, anti-stress, and anti-fatigue ingredients. A night cream can also be used with more active and heavier, non-pore clogging oils for the skin to regenerate more efficiently.

9. Skin Booster Supplement

Taken daily, a skin supplement can be a general health-booster or/and can target specific concerns. These supplements are meant to support your current routine.

Things to Consider

Taking the above routine, it is always good to remember that the lifestyle and DNA of a person are unique. Finding what works best for each individual is a process of trial and error. Check out ingredient lists on each product and find out what blend works for you.
