It’s All About the Collagen

Collagen is the most abundant protein in our bodies, especially type I collagen. It’s found in muscles, bones, skin, blood vessels, the digestive system, and tendons. Collagen gives our skin strength and elasticity while serving as a critical protein required for the replacement of dead skin cells. Our body’s collagen production naturally begins to slow down as we age. This degenerative process leads to signs of aging while other lifestyle factors such as a diet high in sugar, alcohol, smoking, and high amounts of sun exposure all lead to accelerated depletion of collagen levels.

Facts About Collagen

  • Some types of collagen fibrils, gram-for-gram, are stronger than steel.
  • Collagen production declines with age and exposure to factors such as smoking and UV light.
  • Collagen can be used in collagen dressings, to attract new skin cells to wound sites.
  • Collagen molecules are too large to be absorbed through the skin. Companies claiming to boost collagen with collagen in the ingredient list, should not claim to do so.

What is Dark Phyto Matter (DPM) and What does it do?

GOA Skincare’s proprietary, organic ingredient (0% water) is a delivery system and concentrated antioxidant that uses heat to increase absorption and works to assist the skin to boost collagen levels. The main components of DPM are retinol, salicylic acid, niacinamide, and MSM. DPM effectively removes dead skin cells to provide a more efficient and sterile environment that leads to improved absorption by the skin while providing a proactive mechanism that enables the skin to increase collagen levels by significantly slowing down degradation (rapid aging).
